In 2008 CASA volunteers helped 83 children find safe, stable and permanent homes and services needed to heal from that abuse. CASA volunteers donated 1606 hours valued at nearly $15,276. They traveled 7585 miles to do so. They submitted 201 reports regarding the child victim’s best interest to the Judge; reviewed 112 service reports about the children; made 645 out of court contacts with child victims; made 468 foster parent contacts, attended 133 family support team meetings, and 176 court hearings.
The average number of months in care was 17 months, as opposed to the 36 month national average. 23 children were returned to safer homes or found new adoptive homes in 2009. 90% of Missouri foster children who have the benefit of CASA advocacy do not return to care.
